… walking up and down salmon street looking for your cellphone with a weak flashlight at midnight on thanksgiving:

• a man in jeans and a t-shirt rummaging through the trunk of his car saying to himself, (gasp!) I did not forget my blow dryer!
• a man and a woman sitting in a truck parked in front of nothing, as if they are waiting for something to happen.
• more late-night dogwalking than you would have expected.
• two guys striding downhill, talking and laughing loudly, like they had been drinking together for some time.
• a lot of leaves that don’t look at all similar to cellphones, even from far away, but get your hopes up all the same.

it’s out there somewhere, alone in the cold, periodically beeping.
