dust on a white shirt

the first few days of this thing were rather interesting, not having spent any time figuring out even a bare bones story before starting. i had one line and just started writing. most of it isn’t very good so far, but after about 6,000 words, i finally started figuring out a story. it’s actually an old idea i had kind of forgotten about.

you probably won’t see this one either, at least not in its nanowrimo form. but if you were wondering whether it’s ridiculous to try to write a novel in a month: it is, kind of. but also the act of setting concrete goals and forcing yourself to achieve them can be a surprising counterweight to a especially heavy block.

in case you were wondering.
