these are already over a month old! i’m trying to get back on my uploading game.

friends with memberships got me into a pre-opening sunday viewing of the 2008 Biennial. we envisioned a secret little room off the lobby with industrial carpet and a handful of folding chairs with a table stocked with carafes of coffee, mini-muffins, packaged danishes. it was actually a couple tables squeezed into the lobby with a haphazard rope keeping the crowd vaguely in line. (tellingly, there was no line for the art.) coffee, tea, water, and bagels. old-time members sniffed that there wasn’t any juice, that last year there were only ten people there (due to a blizzard), that the bagels appeared stale.

the Biennial itself was off/on as usual, some interesting themes of reflection and home imagery. overall, pretty timely.
