last night i watched the final episode of "ally mcbeal" just because it was my last opportunity to brag about how i used to work in the ally mcbeal building, something i've probably only actually done a few times before since i've only seen the show once or twice. it's amusing to me how the building is basically right across from the street from the state house, but they manage to cut it out of every one of their (albeit two-second) shots. it's also pretty much the direct opposite of the building portrayed in the show, housing mostly small non-profit organizations. i hadn't thought about that place in a while, my last week there was the second week of september, 2001.. so my last memories of that place are strange to say the least.
it's odd too that, like ally, i left boston to go to nyconly in a way, since it's really only for sure for me for the summer (for real). but also my decision wasn't on two days' notice & also included some time home in between.. which has obviously been a strange experience for me: since when do i make parallels between my life & tv shows?
being here will do that to me though, when my triumphs are largely of a consumer nature, when what else is there to do but read sales flyers & get good deals on vitamins? but after tomorrow i will get a little reminder of the city.
